Certificate in Sports Nutrition and Wellness

The 13-credit Certificate Program in Sports Nutrition and Wellness is designed for professionals who have a baccalaureate degree in nutrition, education, coaching, fitness or other health-related field. Prerequisites to the program include anatomy and physiology and introductory nutrition. The Program can be completed part-time and includes courses in Sports Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, and Fitness Assessment. The Program prepares students for positions as personal trainers and health and fitness instructors with exercise and nutrition programs in schools, weight management centers, recreational agencies, work sites, health centers, corporations, fitness facilities, and hospitals. Students may contribute to a variety of planning, instructional, and administrative roles in community and corporate health-related facilities. Graduates are encouraged to seek the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Health Fitness Instructor Certification. The Certificate Program may be taken alone or as part of the M.S. in Nutrition degree program.*
